While the Outer Banks is known for its beautiful beaches and exciting watersports, there are plenty of things to do on the island if you are not a water fan. With a group of islands as big as the OBX in North Carolina, there is something that everyone in the family or group will love.

Once you’ve settled into your vacation rental home and are eager to get your getaway started, we’re sure you’ll have more than your fair share of fun regardless as to where in the Outer Banks you’re staying.

The Best Things to Do on Roanoke Island

While Roanoke Island is not a part of the main barrier islands of the Outer Banks, it offers plenty of great historic, natural, and entertainment opportunities for visitors year-round. Located between the Roanoke Sound and the Croatan Sound, the island is only eight miles tall and two miles wide, making it a very doable day trip for guests coming from other neighboring islands.

The Best Family-Friendly Outer Banks Tours

The Outer Banks are a grouping of barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina. It’s a gorgeous place to take the whole family, rent a beach house, and have a kid-friendly good time. Not only are the over a hundred miles of beaches gorgeous and lush, but there are a variety of fun activities that everyone will love to do. Not all of them involve the water in OBX, but since the islands are split into three regions, it’s easy to get around to each part and do different Outer Banks tours and activities.
