Surf Shack at Waves Village Resort — Written by Kiters, Built for Kiters
Assess the whitecaps from your sound front balcony — you can see who's riding from the Real Slick in Waves clear to the north end of Hatteras. Then walk downstairs, rig on the lawn with the provided pump and sandbags, get a launch from the instructors or fellow riders who are around year-round, and go. This is ground zero of the kiteboarding universe, with Kitty Hawk Kites' school and shop on the premises — and Surf Shack is the clubhouse.
Three Masters, One Hot Tub, Zero Compromises
All three bedrooms are true master suites: a king master and a queen master, each with separate entry and private bath, plus the waterfront king master with its own full bath and direct access to the private hot tub on the sound front balcony — where a gas grill, generous seating, and postcard sunsets close out every session. Inside, 9-foot ceilings, custom woodwork, and rosewood furniture set an unexpected level of polish; the kitchen answers with soapstone countertops, stainless appliances, a Keurig, and a breakfast bar. A sleeper sofa brings capacity to eight, Roku TVs hang in every room with surround sound in the living area, and fast Wi-Fi feeds the wind forecasts.
Working between sessions? A genuine workstation — 27" monitor, universal USB dock, keyboard, and mouse — makes remote days productive instead of improvised.
The Area and Beyond
Waves Village delivers the full spread: soundfront pool, boat dock with boat and trailer parking, gear lockers and SUP/kayak racks, air pumps, an outdoor shower, EV charging, Good Winds seafood restaurant and bar, a coffee shop, the onsite surf shop with rentals, and a ropes course. The Rodanthe Pier and ocean beaches are a few minutes' walk, and a community center with a free boat ramp, skate park, and playground sits less than a mile away. Dogs are welcome ($150 plus tax per pet).
Good to Know
The pictured fireplace is for ambiance only. Balcony gas grills are not a guaranteed amenity — if one breaks or runs out of propane it may not be replaced, so plan dinners around Good Winds or the kitchen.
Elevator access is available (a community amenity, not controlled by the homeowner, and not guaranteed; guests requiring elevator access for mobility reasons are encouraged to contact us prior to booking).
