Everyone visiting the Outer Banks area should take a short day trip to see the Duck NC Boardwalk, located just 30 minutes from Nags Head.

The scenery is breathtaking, the shops are unique and the boardwalk is full of fun attractions. The boardwalk stretches for almost a mile and is the perfect way to spend a day for families, couples and singles. Duck Town Park is right next to the boardwalk and offers eleven acres filled with the willow swamp, the maritime forest, sound side views, open green spaces and boardwalk access for a sensational adventure.

The amenities include public canoe and kayak launching, an enchanting gazebo, an amphitheater, a family playground and a picnic shelter.

The waterfront shops offer a shopping village including delicious restaurants, eighteen boutiques, eateries and so much more. The Waterfront shops run next to the Currituck Sound and easily connect to the new Town Boardwalk. Nothing starts a morning better than strolling by the pond and enjoying a delicious cup or tea or coffee at Duck’s Cottage. The selection of beverages and pastries is divine and visitors can find newspapers from all over the world.

The Blue Point Restaurant is quite large and sunsets on the side yard are exquisite. Their dishes are often featured in Southern Living for their vibrant and delectable taste. A special gift can always be found after dinner at an incredible variety of boutiques and retail stores. Visitors will discover everything from specialty women’s store to unique hand-crafter art. The Duck Town Boardwalk and Park are even more incredible during the spring and summer and the perfect place to make special memoires.

The Town Park Property

This property consists of four separate vegetative communities. These are the marsh, the maritime deciduous forest, the willow swamp and the maritime evergreen forest. The southern portion encompasses the maritime deciduous forest. A marvelous afternoon can be spent enjoying the southern red oaks, pignut hickories, sweet gum trees and Darlington oaks. The maritime evergreen forest is to the north and offers live oak trees and an endangered and rare plant community only found on the seacoast of North Carolina. The willow swamp is to the north and dominated by statuesque red maple and Carolina willow trees. The southside provides an incredible view of the Marsh communities where the conditions are favorable.

These waters are every beach daydream brought to life. This where the warm waters of the Gulf Stream meet to drive the currents of the ocean. The beaches in the Duck area have been built over years of improvements. The result is beaches stretching for miles. Many area beaches have been preserved for the wildlife and recreation. Visitors are always near the water for a breathtaking experience. The area is famous for an abundance of inshore and offshore fishing, boating, piers, marinas, excursions, sailing, canoes, kayaks, windsurfing, kiteboarding, surfing, stand up paddleboarding, water tours and diving.

Visitors to the area can sail on chartered fishing vessels, experience kayak fishing, catch local seafood at the fishing piers, have an adventure on a boat launch, or enjoy the scenery fishing at the pier. There are casting and light tackle trips, relaxation aboard a 51 foot charter complete with air conditioning and heat and kiteboarding lessons available on a custom 24 foot skiff. The waters provide a wide variety of activities and opportunities to provide excitement and fun for any vacation.

The Duck NC Boardwalk has a lovely selection of restaurants to satisfy everyone’s appetites. The most recent destination for casual dining in Duck is the Village Table & Tavern. They offers dishes everyone can enjoy such as local seafood prepared with the expertise of the locals, inspiring sandwich combinations and just the right amount of creativity. The menu suits all ages and includes international and local craft beers for an extraordinary experience. Pizzazz Pizza sends out an enticing aroma with the finest of meat toppings and the freshest possible ingredients for a pizza that delights the senses. Tommy’s Wine Shop and Natural Foods Market offers an incredible, specialty gourmet market and there is always a surprise or two available.

No trip to the boardwalk is complete without a visit to Stay, Play and Eat. This is an establishment featuring ice cream, donut and coffee treats most people have never even imagined much less tasted. The donuts on a stick are hot and made to order with over 35 toppings available. There are even gluten-free donuts for the health conscious. The Sunset Grille & Raw Bar brings the sensational tastes of New Orleans and the Caribbean to the Outer Banks with an amazing variety of spicy seafood dishes including Cajun style fish and chicken.
